Apocrypha

Apocrypha refers to any publication or story featuring Cerebus that is not a part of the 300 issue comic book series. Dave Sim describes three canonical levels for the Cerebus apocrypha:

• Canon: Works that reference some part of the total work contained in the sixteen volumes
• Iconic: "...one where there is nothing that tells us when the story took place and no persuasive reason that it should appear "here" in the chronology rather than "there"."
• High Iconic: "...situations where the Cerebus depicted not only isn't part of the regular continuity of issues 1-300, he isn't even his traditional "iconic" self..."^[1]
