Cerebus the Aardvark No. 37 is an issue of Cerebus published by Aardvark-Vanaheim.
Stories[]
"Petuniacon...Day Two"[]
It's day two at the Petuniacon. Cerebus sits on a couple of discussion panels with Elrod, Lord Julius, and K'Cor. The representatives are clearly on Elrod's side, and Cerebus loses his temper. Cerebus challenges Elrod to a sword duel, a turn of events Elrod clearly does not like. Astoria convinces Cerebus to stop by telling him all the perks he'll get as Prime Minister, but that he won't get them if he gets lynched after killing Elrod.
"Welcome to Heaven, Dr. Franklin, Part 5"[]
- by William Messner-Loebs
Returning from Hell, Benjamin Franklin and his companions find themselves back on Earth, where Franklin must figure out how he will use his new powers to run the universe.

Story Notes[]
- Jaka Tavers appears in Cerebus' dream.
- Astoria mentions Cerebus' rudeness to Filgate.
- "Graft: Boon or Blessing" was a panel mentioned by Lord Julius in Issue 35. It's the only panel Cerebus has heard of. It's possibly the second panel.
- Cerebus clearly lacks a good sense of comedic appropriateness; this is the second time he's attempted the "renegotiating loan payments" joke to an un-receptive audience.
- K'Cor is being completely honest about his city (Imesh); he's in power because everyone else is addicted to drugs.
- Interesting that there is still a member of the church writing transcripts to the pope when there is an Exodus Inward going on.
- Baskin is sitting to K'Cor's left.
- For the second panel, the first two pages of transcript are in oblique text, while the last two pages are in boldface. It's unclear if this is significant. It may mean that these are two different transcripts.
- Filgate is the representative from "Dadocks" who gets 300 crowns as protection money from Lord Julius during the second panel.
- Apparently from the text at the bottom of the transcript, Cirin and Astoria are aware of each other's whereabouts. This is also another hint that Astoria is a Terimite.
- The "not fair" speech to the contrary, Cerebus is actually more like a "thug with naught to recommend but an ability to murder other thugs."
- Note that Cerebus is dressed back in his warrior garb; sword, medallions, and merchant's vest.
- Elrod clearly no longer has any illusions about his ability to stand up to Cerebus in a fight.
- Seersucker, Elrod's original sword, was destroyed into rusty fragments in one blow in Issue 3.
- "The government will collapse within days" is consistent with Issue 30's forecast, with the PM having bought some time with the tariff increase (Issue 32, pgs.4-5) and then the Grand Inquisitor's death and the subsequent Exodus Inward, which will be covered later in Issue 39.
- Astoria knows what order to tempt Cerebus in: money, property, food, drink, and power.
- Cerebus is scheduling in advance the barroom brawl he was denied in Issue 26, though the Ram's Lords Tavern doesn't seem to be a place that would make reservations.
