Stories[]
"Election Night"[]
It's election day. Everybody is gathered at the Regency Hotel to await the results. Astoria is trying to get Cerebus to go out and talk to the masses, but he doesn't want to. The McGrew Brothers are watching the back and forth as Astoria shouts at Cerebus, while Bran Mac Mufin takes a different tack. He calmly tells Cerebus that "the masses" wish to prove their "gratitude" before his "magnificent person". Cerebus listens to him and goes out to the balcony only to see Elrod there. Cerebus tosses him to the floor. Harmon Blakely stops by to show his support. The proceedings are described from the point of view of one of Cerebus' party members on the floor of the Hotel. The election and Cerebus' aims are described in idealistic terms, which are at odds with the real action behind the scenes. Lord Julius' goat takes an early lead. Cerebus makes plans for armed rebellion if he loses. Lord Julius discovers he's sold all his soldiers to run his campaign and buy a squid-shaped bathtub. Julius is seen taking some drastic measures including having his son, Lord Silverspoon turned into a "Human Torch". The election results have a problem. It's a tie with one vote missing.
