Dandy Don Duffbeer with his hat and graphic reads.

Dandy Don Duffbeer was a publisher who produced the "graphic read" Dandy Don Duffbeer's Bazaar Heroes. He came upon Cerebus and Bear as they played Five-Bar Gate beside the Wall of T'si. He gave them free hats and traded Cerebus a copy of Bazaar Heroes (featuring "The Wanker") for two hard boiled eggs.[1]

Basis[]

Duffbeer and his publication are a parodies of cartoonist Don Simpson and his title Bizarre Heroes. His surname is a reference to Duff Beer from The Simpsons.

Dave Sim on Dandy Don[]

  • "Actually the Duff Beer reference was a shot at Groening over his corporate masters suing an Australian brewery for calling one of its brews "Duff Beer." I mean, the Fox Television Corpse doesn't even make beer and they're suing someone who does for using the name? Disgusting, and I think Groening has to take his share of the blame for being party to it by signing away his rights."[2]
