The Eye in the Pyramid was an underground revolutionary movement based in the Pits of Palnu.
History[]
The group was dedicated to the overthrow of Lord Julius Tavers. Cerebus, as the Palnu government's Kitchen Staff Supervisor, thwarted an initial assassination attempt on Lord Julius, arresting many of their members and disposing of the group's leader, Lord Julius' Social Secretary.
When Cerebus faked his own kidnapping, he named The Eye in the Pyramid as his supposed captors.[1]
Later, the group emerged again, this time with only female members and apparently led by Astoria. At that point, they had revolutionary cells in Iest as well as Palnu.[2]
Traits and Beliefs[]
The symbol of an eye in a pyramid dates back at least to ancient Egypt, and can be seen on the American dollar bill to this day. It has often been associated with secret societies, most notably the Illuminati. The version that the Eye in the Pyramid uses has the eye in the center of the pyramid, not the apex. "It is an illustration of the power which resides at the so-called lower echelons of hierarchical systems."[3]
Cirin on The Eye in the Pyramid[]
- "If there was ever a more concrete example of the sheer willful and contrary nature of daughters when they are allowed to roam the corridors of power, unchecked and unfettered, it is The Eye in the Pyramid. Ostensibly based on an ancient and marginal philosophy, it amounts to little more than disobedience and rebelliousness as political theory. Fortunately the adherents of this cult are easily discovered and rooted out; a wise and organized leader has only to seek out those areas of government where information and decision-making are regularly impeded or neutralized and remove the person responsible. It is less a political movement than it is a haven for misguided pranksters." - Cirin, The New Matriarchy[4]

Dave Sim on The Eye in the Pyramid[]
- "The Eye in the Pyramid is a conspiracy of dissatisfied bureaucrats. Anyone found at a meeting or in the company of a known "Eye" doesn't receive instructions on where next to report for work. Within twenty-four hours they lose influence in all sectors of the society including whatever tenacious contract they established with the upper echekous (sic) and inner circles. Opting for the "Eye" is usually the last resort of a bailing bureaucrat They have no access to the bribes and must subsist on what they earn outside the bureaucracy Most are ejected from the city if they refuse to change their behavior. The nutbar in issue 14 through 16 was obviously not a major force in the group judging by his stringent idealism about the movement. There are also diverging viewpoints on how solid the group is. Anyone who might know would have a vested interest in lying about it."[5]
